Planet K'NEX offer challenging and fun K'NEX sessions to Family Learning, School Library Services,
Schools and many other organisations.

So far in 2008 we have run over 50 K'NEX sessions for Family Learning alone.
Our sessions are always well subscribed and attended as children are familiar with K'NEX and enjoy the challenge and variety
that our sessions offer. Parents enjoy themselves too once they get going and we are even successful at attracting the sometimes
elusive dads!

Family Learning K'NEX Sessions 2009

As we are already taking bookings for the Spring Term, we thought we would let you know what we are planning for next year.

Step Forward Consultancy has come up with a number of K'NEX sessions to challenge both children and parents/guardians alike!

This year we are offering both our standard 2-hour K'NEX taster sessions and our 6-hour K'NEX science based challenges.

2 Hour K'NEX Taster Sessions

These start with an introduction to K'NEX by way of building a simple model from instructions.

We then set a challenge's based around problem solving. Examples are, build a motorised car that will carry a library book, build a helicopter with turning rotors and a working winch, build a Ferris Wheel that will carry 8 marbles without them falling out! These are a good introduction to K'NEX Challenges and are very popular.

6 hour K'NEX Science Challenges

Traditionally we run these over 2 separate 3-hour sessions.

These 6 hour courses link to the KS2 + 3 national curriculum and the adult core literacy and numeracy curricula.

These courses start with an introduction and discussion on forces, science and design and the building of a relatively simple model. Each session finishes with a challenge such as building a bridge over a 1 metre span to hold an 8kg weight, or to build a crane and program commands so that it carries out a given task on it's own. My own personal favourite to build a lunar buggy that will navigate around moon rocks! Adults and children alike find these sessions extremely challenging and fun!

New for 2009

OCN accredited courses in:
 • Numeracy
 • Science

These 10 hour courses are OCN accredited and a great way for new learners to gain their first recognised qualification.

Introduction to computer programming and computer control.
This year we will be running courses utilising the Flow Go control box to allow learners to write simple computer programs which they can then use to control their K’NEX models.
We have our own computer suite to facilitate these courses.
